2.How the Mind Works
Book by Steven Pinker
THIS is not a modest title, and How the Mind Works is not a modest book. But you’ll have to read it. Its author, Steven Pinker, is a cognitive psychologist, and was once a disciple of the linguist Noam Chomsky but has long since dropped his pilot. His present guides, as he tells us frankly, are the evangelists of the new school of evolutionary psychology, a field still more familiarly known by the name its protagonists disavow, sociobiology.
“Fiction is empathy technology.”
“Equality is not the empirical claim that all groups of humans are interchangeable; it is the moral principle that individuals should not be judged or constrained by the average properties of their group.”
This is a very readable and influential synthesis of the cognitive science view of the mind with that of evolutionary psychology. The overall thrust is that the mind is a neural computer closely governed by feelings and desires that were shaped by natural selection for their adaptive value in the hunter-gatherer lifestyle of our ancestors.

3.The Power of your subconscious mind
Book by Joseph Murphy
BUY HERE
Subconscious mind is the powerful secondary system that runs everything in your life. Learning how to stimulate the communication between the conscious and the subconscious minds is a powerful tool on the way to success, happiness and riches. Summary of the most important ways to control your subconscious mind. “Busy your mind with the concepts of harmony, health, peace, and good will, and wonders will happen in your life.”
|
“Never finish a negative statement; reverse it immediately, and wonders will happen in your life.”
This book is consistent on the properties of autosuggestion. That is, self-persuasion monitored by wishful thinking, a strong dose of attraction theory and a jumble of contradictory factoids. It relies too much on these elements for me to draw a lot of substantial benefits out of it.
At least, it is easy to remember the key points outlined, as they are relentlessly repeated throughout.

4. Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain
Book by David Eagleman
In Incognito, Eagleman contends that most of the operations of the brain are inaccessible to awareness, such that the conscious mind "is like a stowaway on a transatlantic steam ship, taking credit for the journey without acknowledging the massive engineering underfoot."
“Instead of reality being passively recorded by the brain, it is actively constructed by it.”
“We believe we're seeing the world just fine until it's called to our attention that we're not.”
Incognito is incredibly fascinating. I never tire of reading about the brain, an organ so complex that I doubt scientists will ever fully understand it. (I also wish more research would focus on the brain.) Eagleman taught me many things I'd never heard of before or even considered, and accessibly so. My favorite brain fact is in this book, still, years after I read Incognito and after reading other brain books.

5.Awaken the Giant Within
Book by Tony Robbins
Awaken The Giant Within is a self-help book packed with many big ideas. Even some claim that the concepts in the book are not backed by science and research, but it’s undoubtedly a must-read book for anyone who likes to master their inner self and change their destiny.
“Every problem is a gift - without problems we would not grow.”
“If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. ”
Anthony Robbins is one of the most well known self-improvement and motivational speakers. Even though his first book 'Awaken the Giant Within' was published more than a decade ago, it still holds immense relevance in today's world. This is a book packed with plenty of strategies on how to take charge of your emotions, health, relationships and finances. It is a holistic book that offers timeless philosophies that can help you reach your true goals and discover your passion in life.

6.The Power of Habit
Book by Charles Duhigg
BUY HERE
In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential.
“If you believe you can change - if you make it a habit - the change becomes real.”
“This is the real power of habit: the insight that your habits are what you choose them to be.”
This book claims to explain how new science can help us stop bad habits. The advice on habit change ultimately comes down to the appendix with the author's personal anecdote about trying to lose weight. The conclusion is obvious and it's not science; it's just some dude's story. People looking for books on using increased awareness of thought loops to change habits would be better served reading something about cognitive therapy or meditation.

7.Think and Grow Rich
Book by Napoleon Hill
BUY HERE
Napoleon Hill deliberately does not specifically state the formula, in my view this is because it is more likely that we are missing a key ingredient, rather than the entire recipe, this is different for different people. You may not even need them all.
“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.”
“Set your mind on a definite goal and observe how quickly the world stands aside to let you pass.”
This is the best self help book any entrepreneur could ever read. Perhaps the only one they need to. Truly transformative. I have it on audio too and listen to it at the gym often.
Napoleon Hill was tasked by Andrew Carnegie to write a book on what made a successful person succeed, and he spent 20 years researching and interviewing every great name of the day (Ford, Woolworth, Edison, etc), plus lots of people who failed (because you have to know what doesn't work too). This book is the result.
